Organ Transplant: The Debate over Who, How, and Why
Author: Adam Winters, 2000

Il est clair qu'à l'époque, on ne croyait pas ces "histoires", dont la véracité n'est plus à prouver, et pour lesquelles le gouvernement chinois a reconnu les faits : des prélèvements d'organes sur des condamnés à mort Chinois :
" (...) a tale about the executions of criminals in China whose body parts are sold by the government."

From School Library Journal
Gr 5-9-This easy-to-read title focuses more on "Society" than "Science." Although there is a brief discussion and a time line on the history of organ transplants, there is more emphasis on ethical issues than on medical matters. The text occasionally takes on a "gossipy" tone, especially in relating the "true" stories about the International Organ Market, none of which are documented. A man in the Philippines is said to have sold one of his kidneys to pay his son's hospital bills. There is an anecdote about the "body mafia" in Japan, criminal gangs hired by the rich to locate transplants, and a tale about the executions of criminals in China whose body parts are sold by the government. The illustrations, mainly full-color photographs, are used for dramatic effect. Some of them add nothing to the text, such as one of mourners at a grave site or the one of a monitor screen with the caption "In most cases, for a person to receive a life-sustaining organ, someone must die." Other titles on organ transplants yield more factual information for reports. This slender volume is geared strictly to curiosity seekers.-Jennifer J. Gallant, Cleveland Public Library, OH
